I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Connecticut and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in the Program on Children and Families.

My research fields are labor economics, health economics, public policy, and applied econometrics. My work focuses on the economics of children and families, the intergenerational transmission of human capital, and applied policy evaluation — including studies of the Earned Income Tax Credit, the social safety net, child welfare policy, and early-life determinants of child health and achievement.

My research has been published in journals including the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Health Economics, and the Journal of Law and Economics. My paper “Income, the Earned Income Tax Credit, and Infant Health” (with Hilary Hoynes and Doug Miller) won the AEJ: Economic Policy Best Paper Award in 2018.
